ESU reaches a mobility milestone in Lille PDF Print E-mail

ESU celebrated a year of achievements with a highly successful validation conference to mark the culmination of its 'Let's Go' mobility campaign with Education International.  Delegates from across Europe and including representatives from the European Commission gathered at the Lille 3 university on 6th and 7th October to assess the progress made over the last twelve months and to define the aims and shape a strategy for taking the campaign forward for the future.

The conference saw the launch of a major new publication, 'Mobility Barometer' which, for the very first time, provides information from all 46 signatories to the Bologna Process on the current levels of, and barriers to, mobility for both staff and students in higher education.  The full report can be downloaded here.

Through a series of workshops and debates, the conference vowed to continue the campaign over the next decade, setting an overall target of achieving 20% mobility for all students in Europe by the year 2020.  It equally committed itself to forming a broad coalition of stakeholders to design a mobility strategy for inclusion within the Bologna Process.  Work is now continuing apace, with key opportunities ahead in the next twelve months, most importantly of all, the Ministerial Conference in Belgium in Spring 2009.
