The SUDC is tasked with supporting the development of student unions in Europe. It will carry out this work in cooperation with the other working structures of ESU as well as the national unions of students.  The SUDC will develop its own plan of work and define its work methods based on the general plan of work for the organisation.

Among other tasks, members of  the SUDC are responsible for: 

•    Following up on requests from student unions for training or information about issues related to capacity building.
•    Writing and publishing a handbook on capacity building within national unions of students.
•    Coordinating and carrying out the main work in a new project in a country where ESU does not have a member, to support and contribute to the development of the national student movement.
•    Coordinating and supporting study visits to organisations applying for membership in ESU.
•    Coordinating and supporting working groups active in the field of student union development.
