Proposed by : ANOSR (Romania) Adopted at : Board Meeting 56 Women still face problems in employment that prevent them from receiving the same professional salaries for a job when compared to a male employee. Two of the main symbols of this issue are the gender pay gap and the career obstacles in the face of women with children. We hereby request that ESU petition the European Parilament on the following: 1. Regulations on salaries should clearly state and push that graduates who are employed must be guaranteed equal pay for equal workload. This should be valid for all forms of employment, and extend to pensions 2. Starting a family should not be incompatible with having a career. Regulations should stop women from being fired or hindered in their career development by their decision to start a family. In the event that they desire to return to work and do not have the opportunity to pay for a daycentre, businesses with more than 100 employees should offer day care facilities for toddlers. Facilities for father paternity leave in similar conditions with maternity leave should be offered by all EU countries. We hereby mandate the GECC to write and send this letter after a brief review of current legislation. We also ask that this letter be sent to the board, published on the ESU website and sent by June 30th, either to the current or the newly elected EP.
