Image17th-21st October: ESU Organises its' 14th European Student Convention in Lisbon, in line with the European Presidency.
The objective of the convention is to gather the entire European community of national students representatives to discuss sustainability and social cohesion, especially regarding the Lisbon Process. The Convention aims at competence building for the participating students representatives and national students’ unions, but it will also contribute to define ESU policy and ESU’s contribution within the Lisbon Process.

During the convention, ESU’s publication “Lisbon With Student Eyes” will be presented and discussed. Furthermore, speakers including Prof. Maria João Rodrigues, Prof. Roger Dale (NESSE), European University Association and the Council of Europe, amongst others, will present their views on sustainability of higher education. Workshops will also be arranged for the participants to in-depth discuss the content of the convention.

This event will also mark the 25th anniversary of ESU, formerly known as ESIB – The National Unions of Students in Europe, and created in 1982 as WESIB (Western European Students’ Information Bureau). Therefore, the convention will start off with a 25 years celebration on the evening of the 17th of October – with ESU and FAIRe collaborating on preparing what promises to be a celebration, the likes of which have not been seen in student circles this year.
